Try Transit Week 2026

One Trip Is All It Takes:  Celebrate 25 Years of GoCary During Try Transit Week

Trying transit does not have to mean changing your entire routine. It can begin with one simple trip - to work, the library, lunch, an appointment, a community event, or even a neighboring town.

During Try Transit Week, September 8-12, GoCary invites everyone to discover how many possibilities are within reach.

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful because GoCary is celebrating 25 years of service to the Cary community. For a quarter century, GoCary has helped connect people with employment, education, healthcare, shopping, recreation, and each other.

Every trip has been part of that story. This milestone belongs to the riders who have trusted us, the employees who keep our service moving, and the community partners who have supported public transportation in Cary. Try Transit Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate everything we have accomplished together, and invite new riders to become part of GoCary’s next chapter.

Transit Options for Almost Everyone

Public transportation in the Triangle is much more than a traditional bus route. Depending on where you are traveling, you might use a local or regional bus, a university shuttle, or an on-demand service that works more like rideshare.

GoTriangle’s new Regional Transit Network guide brings together 19 public transit, university transit, and microtransit options serving communities across the region. These include GoCary, GoTriangle, GoRaleigh, GoDurham, GoApex, Chapel Hill Transit, the Morrisville Smart Shuttle, Wolfline, Duke Transit, and several convenient on-demand services.

In Cary, getting started is especially easy because GoCary is fare-free. There is no fare to calculate or pass to purchase - just choose a destination, plan your trip and get on board. GoCary can take you around Cary or help you connect with other services traveling throughout the Triangle.

Getting Started Is Easier Than You May Think

The GoCary app makes riding simple by helping you plan your trip, view route information, and track your bus in real time. Whether you are preparing at home or already on your way, the information you need is right at your fingertips.

Want to combine bicycling and transit? Bring your bike along! GoCary buses are equipped with convenient bike racks on the front of the bus, making it easy to ride part of your journey and take the bus for the rest.

You do not have to understand the entire transit network before taking your first ride. Start with one familiar destination, allow a little extra time and ask a driver or GoCary team member if you need assistance. We are always happy to help.

Help Us Begin the Next 25 Years

GoCary’s first 25 years were built one ride, one rider and one connection at a time. As we celebrate this special anniversary, we invite everyone to help us begin the next chapter.

Whether you are looking to avoid parking, spend less time driving, save money, connect bicycling with transit, travel to another community or simply try something new, there is a place for you on transit.

Download the GoCary app, choose one trip and invite a friend to ride with you. You may be surprised by how easy it is.
